Hardware requirements
What you need to run Smooth POS in your store.
Smooth POS runs in a web browser, so you don't need special hardware to get started. Here's what works.
Terminal
Your register can be any of these:
- A Windows PC running Edge or Chrome
- A Mac running Chrome or Safari
- An Android or iOS tablet
- An Android or iOS phone
Receipt printers
Smooth POS currently supports Epson receipt printers that run the Epson ePOS SDK. The printer must be connected to your network, either over Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Supported models include:
- TM-m30 (I, II or III)
- TM-m50II
- TM-P20II
- TM-P80II
- TM-L100
- TM-T88VII
Recommended printerOur pick is the Epson TM-m30III. It's set up the same way as the other TM-m30 models.
Already using an older TM-m30 or another model from the list above? No need to change. It'll keep working just fine.
Once your printer's on the network, follow Epson printer setup to connect it to a register.
Barcode scanners
Any barcode scanner that works in HID (keyboard emulation) mode will work with Smooth POS.
On a phone, you can use the built-in camera scanner instead. It works for sales, stocktakes and transfers.
