Android Installation Guide

Smooth POS runs in the browser, so there's nothing to download from an app store. On an Android phone or tablet you install it from Chrome, and it then opens full screen from its own icon, just like an app.

What you need

An Android phone or tablet with Chrome. See Hardware requirements.
Your company's Smooth POS address. It looks like company.smoothpos.net.
Your Smooth POS login.

Install Smooth POS

Open Chrome on the device.
Go to your company's Smooth POS address, for example company.smoothpos.net.
Install it. Open Chrome's menu (the three dots at the top right) and choose the option to install the app or add it to your home screen. The wording depends on your Chrome version.
Confirm. Tap Install (or Add) when Chrome asks.
Open Smooth POS from the new Smooth POS icon on your home screen and log in.

Smooth POS opens full screen without Chrome's address bar, so staff stay in the POS.

Set up your register

Once it's installed, open Register → Open/Close to open the register for the day. See How to process a sale for your first sale.

Receipt printer

We recommend the Epson TM-m30III receipt printer. It prints over your network, so put it on the same network as the device. See Epson TM-m30 Printer to set it up.

To print securely from Android, each device needs to trust the printer's certificate. Follow Android Printer SSL Installation to install it.

Barcode scanner

Any barcode scanner that works in HID (keyboard emulation) mode works with Smooth POS. On a phone you can also scan with the camera. See Hardware requirements.
